Stuff's goin' on

Hello.

Here's what stuff is, will be and has been goin' on:

Fat Gold Chain played at Melbourne Uni last Thursday. That was nice. We tried out a couple of new tracks and some acoustic percussion madness. It went well, I believe. We may do such things again.

Today we (Fat Gold Chain) recorded a bunch of vocals for these new songs. This means an EP is coming.

Sometime. In the future.

In Ardeem news, the organisations for the gig on December 2nd (IN YOUR DIARY! NOW!) are going well. I am just needing to practice. A lot. It's coming along.

In other Jacob-music news, the monthly Milton gig is on again this Sunday at Kindred studios. As a special treat for young and old, I will be playing drum kit – a rare occurence nowadays. Should be interesting. I hope I know the songs...

Here's a flyer for Sunday's gig:

So, come along to that. See you there. Nice. Thank you. You're welcome.

And that's all for now.

Bye from Jacob

Fat Gold Chain gig at Melbourne Uni tomorrow

Hello.

Do you know about my other band, Fat Gold Chain? You probably should. We have a gig tomorrow at Melbourne Uni. From 1-2pm. We will be playing new songs. I will be singing, dancing and drumming. And pushing some buttons.

Lots and lots of buttons.

You should totally come and check us out.

See you tomorrow.

Love from Jacob

The Inaugural Ardeem Gig is announced!

It's going to be a one-man, electronic, percussive extravaganza on December 2nd.

I will be playing and singing songs from the ablum plus a couple of new ones, using all manner of vocals, drums, electronics and style. It will be AWESOME.

This gig is going to be kept small and friends-only, so shhhh. To let me know that you'd like to come, please fill in The Inaugural Ardeem Gig Poll here. For more information, coming soon, please subscribe to Ardeem.com or join the mailing list (over there, on the right. I'll even send you a song).

I think this feeling that I'm feeling might be called 'excitement'.

Or fear.

Yeah, probably fear.

Cool song. Cool Clip

Kanchana sent me this clip. I like it. Have a look.

That's all for now.

Another gig this weekend

Hello again.

Just letting you know I have another gig with Ross Hannaford's band coming up this weekend – on Sunday (the 16th) at the Caravan Club in Oakleigh from 3-6pm. Here's a little flyer for you:

So that's that.

Also, the girl who made my video for Space just uploaded it to her Vimeo page, so I thought I'd mention that here. You can go to her page to see it (and some of her other stuff) and I have embedded it for you below. Or you can go to it on Youtube and leave a comment. Isn't that nice? Options!

In the meantime, I'm rehearsing the Ardeem live set today. All by myself. Over and over again. Until it is PERFECT.

Good bye.

Playing a gig tomorrow

Hello.

I'm just doing some homework for a gig tomorrow – playing percussion at Kindred studios in Yarraville with Ross Hannaford's Critters. I'm learning the songs real good.

Address is:

Kindred Studios
212a Whitehall Street, Yarraville

Playing from 3.00 to 6.00.

That's 15.00 to 18.00 if you're in army.

Here's a flyer:

Or you can join up to the Facebook event, if you like that sort of thing.

I'm actually really looking forward to it – should be FUN.

See you there,

Jacob

I like this track

I've been listening to a lot of Classic FM lately and this song came on at some stage. I liked it, looked it up and bought it. I can't get it out of my head. I think it's pretty.

Here's a link to it in iTunes: Nead Na Lachan

It's an Irish Children's song. Probably why I like it. Because, deep down, I am an Irish child.

Jewish/Irish.

Here's a version I found on Youtube. It's not a particularly good representation of the song but I certainly found it entertaining. I especially like the guy sitting in the chair at the front. I think he might be the mascot.

It will be entertaining if you listen to the iTunes one first. Trust me.

Also, FAT GOLD CHAIN GIG TOMORROW!

Ok bye.

Some Fat Gold Chain video for you

Hello.

There's another Fat Gold Chain gig coming up this weekend – Sunday afternoon at the Evelyn in Fitzroy. You can get the details here. I think doors open around 1.30, we'll be on around 3, but come and say hi beforehand.

That is a command.

To juice you up a bit, here's a little bit of bongo-beating footage from our previous gig at The Empress:

In other non-music news, I'm moving house shortly and need to get various things like a fridge, washing machine, couch, etc. If you know anyone that is trying to get rid of such things, please let me know.

See you on Sunday.

Gig at the espy tonight

Forgot to tell you, there's a Fat Gold Chain gig on at the espy in about 30 minutes. Hurry!

Bye.

J-Azmaris Ethio Jazz at Harambe tonight

Hello.

The Fat Gold Chain gig at The Empress last Saturday went pretty well. I liked the venue and I think we went down well, even though we ended up playing pretty late – I think we'll definitely try and play there again in the future. In the meantime, I'm waiting for the Fat Gold Chain Media, PR and marketing Department to provide me with some footage to post here for you on this internet website. So, keep an eye out for that.

Or, you could just come to our next gig at The Espy next Saturday and take some video of your own. You could then give me a copy of the video you took and I will then put it on this internet website.

Yes. You should do that.

Tonight, I just wanted to let you ALL know, I'm playing percussion with J-Azmaris – an Ethio-jazz group containing mostly white guys – at Harambe Ethiopian restaurant in Footscray. I think we're playing from 7 until 9 or so – $20 for all-you-can-eat Ethiopian Buffet. Highly recommended. See you there.

That's about it for now.

Chow.

I bought a guitar!

It's a lovely American Standard Telecaster by some company called 'Fender'. I was fiddling around with it and a little song idea spurted out.

Here it is:

The drums are recorded from a Casio CT-102. Classy.

That's all for now.

Chow,

Jacob

I like this track

Well, I just finished another essay. Finally. Normally, the only good thing about writing essays is that I end up listening to a bunch of music. This time, unfortunately, I didn't listen to much. What I did listen to, however, was an artist named Bola.

Here's one track of his that I like:

I think it's pretty – it's the first track of his that I heard and it grabbed me. In a nice way. From there, I listened to more and liked pretty much all of it.

Isn't that nice?

There are also Forcasa's 1 and 2 – I've put all three of them into a playlist for you on the Youtube.

That's all for now.

Fat Gold Chain at the corner - Video

Hello. I am busy writing an essay at the moment, so no music news. I did say, however, that I would post some video of the Fat Gold Chain gig from June at the Corner (supporting the sensual Ash Grunwald) when I had it. And I do have it. Now. So here it is:

Fat Gold Chain consists of myself and Kanchana. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should. We have some gigs coming up.

That's all for now.

Essay.

The gig went well

Hello.

Just a short note to let you know that the Fat Gold Chain gig with Mr Ash Grunwald at the Corner last Saturday went well. We smashed it.

There are some photos on Facebook if you would like to look on them.

Here's a taste:

There was some video footage taken too – I'll put it up when I get my hands on it.

Thanks to those who made it down.

That's all for now – just a quickie.

Love from Jacob

This weekend

Just a reminder – Kanchana and I (Fat Gold Chain) are playing a support slot for Ash Grunwald at the Corner tomorrow night! Doors open at 8pm and we'll be playing at 9pm. The Fingers Malone Ensemble is doing another support set after us and then we'll probably sit in on percussion for some of Ash's set.

Cool!

I think there are still a few tickets left, but not for long. You can get them here: https://corner.ticketscout.com.au/gigs/428-ash-grunwald

Here's a short clip of Fat Gold Chain from our performance at St Kilda Festival this year:

Let me know if you're coming!

See you tomorrow night.

Jacob

The Space video is here!

Hello! I am excited!

You may have heard that I was getting a video produced for my song, Space. I am excited right now because it is made! Exclamations!

I hope you enjoy it – if you would, please go to the page on Youtube and 'Like' it or post a comment. Or both. It would help me a lot and I'd love to hear what you think. Also, if you want to send it around to others, that would be lovely. You could tell them that there's a donkey and some delicious lobsters...

Mmmmmm.

Here's the video:

Hope you like it.

Looking for somethings to do?

Hello there. If you have been looking for somethings to do, here are somethings:

Firstly, the next groove-infused jamboree with Milton is happening in Yarraville this Sunday. Here's a flyer with all the details :

So, see you there from 1.30. Prepare to shake IT.

Next, Kanchana and I will be supporting Ash Grunwald as Fat Gold Chain at the Corner Hotel on Saturday, June 9th. Fingers Malone is doing a support slot as well – it will be an electronic, percussive, blues extravaganza. If you want to come (and, let's face it, you do), book your tickets early – Ash's last show at the Corner sold out well in advance.

More info can be found here.

Finally, my friend's band Number Station is holding their EP launch at the Grace Darling on Smith Street, Collingwood this Saturday night from 9pm. I don't know exactly where that is but I will find out before Saturday. They make some great-sounding indie-rock type musics. They also made a video recently. Here it is:

See you there.

And that's that – an exciting line up of entertainment for you.

So, what are you going to do? You're going to go wild at the Number Station launch on Saturday night, recover (by dancing wildly) with Milton on Sunday arvo then spend the next couple of weeks preparing yourself (and ordering tickets) for Fat Gold Chain supporting Ash Grunwald on June 9th.

You're welcome.

Love from Jacob
